Mrs. Mary Tadros is one of the Middle East’s most respected education leaders, with nearly five decades of experience spanning school leadership, educational reform, teacher development, and international education. She currently serves as Development & Recognition Senior Manager for Africa, Europe, and the Middle East at the International Baccalaureate (IB), where she works with schools, governments, ministries of education, school groups, and education leaders to expand access to high-quality international education and strengthen recognition of IB programmes.

Advancing Education Across the Region

In her current role, Mary leads strategic initiatives that help schools become IB World Schools while supporting governments in integrating internationally recognized educational frameworks into their national systems. Her work has contributed to expanding IB programmes across the Middle East, including partnerships with public education systems in Jordan, Bahrain, and Lebanon.

She has also built partnerships with leading educational organizations and foundations throughout the region and regularly represents the IB at major international education conferences, where she speaks about educational innovation, policy, bilingual education, and the future of learning.

A Distinguished Career in School Leadership

Before joining the International Baccalaureate, Mary spent 25 years at Amman Baccalaureate School, one of the Middle East’s pioneering IB schools. During her tenure, she held several senior leadership positions, including Head of Senior School and Head of Middle Years School, while teaching Chemistry, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Ethics, and Science across multiple curricula, including the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, IGCSE, A Levels, and the IB Diploma Programme.

She played a pivotal role in introducing the IB Diploma Programme and Middle Years Programme to the school and helped secure official recognition of the IB by Jordan’s Ministry of Education, contributing significantly to the growth of international education in the country.

Educational Reform and Teacher Development

Mary has made substantial contributions to educational reform beyond the classroom. She served as Senior Education Specialist at the Office of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, where she supported national education initiatives, teacher development programmes, and strategic reforms across Jordan’s education sector.

She later became an Academic Programs Advisor to the Queen Rania Teacher Academy, helping design teacher preparation and leadership programmes in collaboration with leading international institutions, including Teachers College at Columbia University, University College London, and the University of Connecticut. She has also consulted for organizations including UNICEF, USAID, and the League of Arab States.

International Accreditation and Educational Quality

Mary is widely recognized as an experienced IB educator and accreditation leader. She has served as an IB workshop leader, consultant, programme leader, evaluation leader, and visiting team chair, leading authorization and evaluation visits across more than 18 countries.

She has also chaired numerous synchronized accreditation visits for the International Baccalaureate, the Council of International Schools (CIS), and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), supporting schools around the world in achieving and maintaining international standards of educational excellence.
